A Year of Reading

This last year has been a great one for me, reading-wise. The official total was 222 books, this year. One twist I put on it this year is that I reread a lot of my favorite books from the last decade or so. Okay, it wasn't limited to just favorite books from the last decade, there were favorites from the last 4 or so decades. And there was still quite a bit of new stuff on the list. This list included:

How to Train Your Dragon (series)
Harry Potter (series)
Everything by John Grisham
The Teachings of the Presidents of the Church (series)
Ender's Game (all the books in the universe)
Everything by Tana French
Harry Dresden (series)
Magic 2.0 (series)
Almost everything by David Baldacci (almost finished, missed the last couple of books that I'm finishing at the beginning of this year)
My Christmas Reading List
The entire standard works, plus the Book of Mormon in Spanish, plus a chapter a day with the family (in English, of course).
25 issues of The Ensign

and

Lots of single titles by various authors, many of whom were new, and some of which will be getting the scorched earth treatment in the near future.

The stats stack up like this:

Total books: 222
Total pages: 90,297
Average pages per day: 246.71
Total pages since 2008: 369,276

300,000 Pages

Who would have expected it to have taken less than 2 years to go from 200,000 pages to 300,000 pages? Not I.

Reading is fun.

Toby's Own Photos -

I let Toby have my old camera and here are a few of the pictures he took.  So far he has taken over 500 pictures and quite a few videos, but I've posted only a few of the ones I liked best!

Photos from June to September 2014 -

So here's a taste of what we've done the last few months -

Late spring, early summer is a great time for seeing the flowers blooming and planting fun things to eat

Toby and Afton got to meet Curious George at the Roy library.  Afton was a little scared because George was so big!
 At the Ogden mall-

Greg's friend Ben gave us his grill!  We've had some good dinners cooked on that grill this summer
I took Toby and Afton to the Riverdale splash park.  Here they are drying off in the sun

I let Shiloh have a french fry.  Or two
At the playground behind our house.  The kids loved going there every evening when the temperature had cooled down

Fireworks in Riverton with Grandma and Grandpa
Swimming lessons in July.  Toby loved them, Afton got bored.  I got to talk to Olya during them

Afton's birthday.  Greg was able to be home for it, but we couldn't find a swimming pool open so Afton could play in the pool.  She was sad about that

Afton got a tea set and tea tray and here they are, playing with it
Treehouse Museum, with the neighbors, the Johnsons.  The kids loved it

Lagoon on Stake Lagoon Day.   I bought tickets for Afton and Toby and I walked around with Shiloh in the stroller.  They had a blast and they still talk about how much fun they had.  I went on only a few rides; the carousel, the train, and the two haunted houses.

At the end of our wedding anniversary date we went walking around the Ogden Temple grounds.

After watching a Harry Potter movie, Toby pretended to curse everyone.

Toby's first day of first grade

Changing the living room of Greg's parents' house.  I was so glad they liked the changes!
Toby's just showing off his awards from Kindergarten

Walking around after the BYU dinner at the church office building

And here's Toby laughing at Shiloh crying!  Just kidding.  Toby and Afton love their baby sister and Toby loves to play with her.  Shiloh's upset because I'm not letting her play with my phone, that's all.
