First Haircut

Before-
Toby's sides were starting to cover his ears, the front and back were getting shaggy.

After-
I didn't trim the top but I got everywhere else.

I just decided all-of-a-sudden to cut his hair and it was fun! I don't care if it's choppy or uneven. I think it looks better.

Took Me Awhile...

Took me awhile but I finally painted the table we got from Dono and Olya, and the rock table Greg got from his grandpa (I think). I think I told Greg I would paint them black, like, months ago.

They used to be a natural light wood and I'm not a fan of that color wood. I like dark cherry wood. But since stripping the pieces then staining would have been a ton of work, I went with black!

Greg loves how the rock table turned out, and he's fine with the kitchen table. I covered the top with 3 coats of polyurethane so hopefully the paint doesn't get scratched up, but I can just paint the top again.

What do you think? I wish I had taken before photos to show you...

Fun in the Tub!

After swimming I put Toby in the tub to wash off the chlorine. He splashed and had more water fun so I thought I'd take more pictures and a video. In the photo above, Toby had just splashed water in his eye.

Aaah, so relaxing

Fun in the Pool!

I had actually taken Toby swimming a couple of weeks ago, for the first time but my camera batteries died so I wasn't able to take photos. So these are pictures of his third time, but oh well.

I had a blast buying Toby's swim gear; his swim shorts, his new orange towel, and the fun crab floatie.

In the crab floatie there is a little pool for splashing. Toby for some reason likes to stick his face in the water! I think he's trying to take a drink!

There were a lot of kids running around and Toby couldn't take his eyes off of them! He was more interested in them than swimming this time!

Once in a while I'd take Toby out of the crab and he would splash! He didn't like the water hitting his face but he just kept on splashing!

Toby's Eighth -

Well, I didn't take many pictures this month. You've already seen pretty much all the pictures I've taken, so I'll just post this one for this month.

Ever since we have moved, Toby forgot how to sleep through the night. Did he have a hard time with the move? Was he going through a growth spurt that coincidentally coincided with the move? Is he scared of his new room? We don't know. We're still trying to get him to sleep the night...

Toby has learned how to be mobile and he loves going for anything electronic. His favorite toy for awhile (till we finally put it out of his reach) was a cell phone charger!

Last week I took Toby swimming for the first time. He loved it! We haven't been swimming since because of the weather, but I'll be sure to take photos next time we go. We bought him a floatie and he had fun with that, but he also liked it when I'd hold him and let him kick and splash.

"Toby's First Year" Scrapbook -

So Randi Platt gave us a scrapbook at my baby shower. It had a cute cloth cover, but unfortunately it got wrecked so I covered it with decorative paper.

I kept the bits of advice people gave and I included them in the scrapbook.

I didn't use special acid-free paper or stickers or markers - a photo album I made in the 90's is still fine, so I figured the photos will last long enough to be enjoyed.

The pages are the perfect size for one or two photos and I can do a few pages at a time.

I look forward to filling every page!

Then and Now-

Remember when Toby was first born? Lots of dark hair, brown eyes, nothing would fit him and I thought he looked more like me (Ilene).

Now at 7 months, his hair has lightened, his eyes turned blue, he loves to smile and laugh, and he looks more like Greg (in my opinion).

What a difference!

Toby Doesn't Like Everything-

If you know Toby, you would know that Toby likes pretty much anything. He loves to try new foods and he'll grab your food out of your hands if you're not paying attention.
So it was completely out of character for him when I had him try applesauce and he gagged on it! I guess there really are a few things Toby won't enjoy eating!

More Tie Shirts!

So Toby outgrew his first set of tie shirts and I decided I liked them enough to make more! These were a lot easier to make; apparently I've perfected the technique or something.

I made a black vinyl one and a pink striped one. I have one more to make and I bought red satin ribbon. I was thinking of making a bow-tie, but Greg didn't like that idea. :( I'll just have to make it a red satin tie.
